Anthurium:
(Dark Mama × Ace of Spades) × Dark Phoenix

Some plants are acquired.

Others quietly earn their place.

This Anthurium has become one of those plants.

Its newest leaf emerged with an olive bronze glow, luminous veins, and the kind of presence that makes you stop every time you walk past it. Over the coming weeks, this leaf will slowly harden and deepen in color……a transformation that’s just as captivating as its emergence.

Not every plant will leave the Gallery.

Some are chosen to stay.

This will become one of Plant Gallery’s future mother plants, helping shape the next generation of living artwork.

Collection Spotlight:

Some plants don’t need to shout.

They simply invite you to look closer.

Anthurium ‘Pink Wonderboy × Wonderboy B’, created by renowned hybridizer Scott Cohen, is one of those plants.

What immediately drew me in wasn’t just the dark velvet foliage…….it was the contrast. Every leaf feels sculpted, with bright silver venation floating across an almost satin surface. As the foliage matures, the leaves deepen in color (some almost black) while maintaining that incredible definition that makes velvet anthuriums so captivating.

This isn’t a flashy plant.

It’s one that rewards observation.

The kind you notice a little more each morning as light moves across the leaf.

Plants like this represent exactly what Plant Gallery is about - living works of art chosen for character, form, and the experience they create within a space.

Gallery Collection:

Every collection has a few plants that quietly stand out.

This FTG Crystallinum F1 × SKG Silver, bred by Paul Marcillini @understory_oasis , is becoming one of those for me.

Each new leaf reveals a little more of its potential. The bold venation, emerging texture, and influence from SKG Silver are becoming more apparent with every growth cycle.

Plants like this are exactly why I started Plant Gallery.

Not simply to collect rare Anthuriums but to curate specimens with exceptional genetics, watch them mature, and one day use them to create the next generation.

This one still has years ahead of it.

And that’s the exciting part.

Behind the Gallery • Part 1

Here’s an early look at something I’ve been quietly working on.

These are prototype specimen tags and packaging for Plant Gallery. They’re not final yet, but they’re getting close.

I’ve always wanted every plant to feel like more than a purchase. From the moment it’s unboxed, it should feel like you’ve acquired a curated specimen - not just another plant in a plastic pot.

Every detail is being refined: the tags, presentation, packaging, and eventually the shipping experience itself.

This is just the beginning.

How much is too much for a houseplant? 🌿

This is one of the most expensive plants in my collection: Philodendron ‘Melanochrysum Orange’.

To someone outside the hobby, spending four figures on a plant probably sounds ridiculous.

But collectors aren’t paying for “just another philodendron.”

They’re paying for rarity.
They’re paying for genetics.
They’re paying for years of selective cultivation.
And sometimes… they’re paying for a plant that may never be widely available.

What I love most about this one isn’t even the price tag.

It’s the way every leaf is different. Cream, blush pink, copper, deep green… no two leaves are ever exactly alike. Watching each new leaf unfurl feels like opening a mystery.

Some people collect paintings.
Some collect watches.

Some of us collect living art.

So here’s my question…

What’s the most you’ve ever spent on a single plant and was it worth it?
