Welcome to Plant Gallery

Plant Gallery began inside a Harlem apartment transformed into a living collection of rare tropical foliage, artwork, and objects.

Created by artist and collector Javon Conaway, the gallery approaches plants through the same lens as fine art—focused on composition, texture, atmosphere, and presence.

Every specimen is selected with intention.

The Collection

Plant Gallery focuses on uncommon and collector-grade tropicals selected for their presence, character, and individuality.

While you’ll find everything from Monstera and Philodendron to Begonia and other aroids, Anthuriums remain at the heart of the gallery. Their diversity of texture, shape, venation, and growth habit creates endless variation—no two specimens are ever truly alike.

Many offerings originate from carefully selected breeding projects, collector networks, and small growers throughout the United States and beyond. Whether a plant is widely recognized or rarely seen, each is chosen using the same standard:

Presence.

Not every plant needs to be rare. Not every rare plant deserves a place in the gallery.

Plant Gallery exists at the intersection of collecting, cultivation, and design—where living plants become part of a larger visual experience.

The Curator

My name is Javon, and Plant Gallery was born from a simple idea: what if a plant collection could feel like an art gallery?

Originally from Connecticut, I’ve called Harlem home for over a decade. Long before Plant Gallery existed, I was building worlds through my artwork. As a fine artist, I was always drawn to creating experiences that extended beyond the canvas—spaces that made people stop, explore, and feel something.

Over time, that creative energy found a new outlet in plants.

What began as a few houseplants slowly evolved into a dense indoor oasis filled with rare and unusual tropicals. Shelf by shelf, light by light, my apartment transformed into a living gallery—an ever-changing collection of texture, color, form, and growth.

Today, Plant Gallery is an extension of that world.

While you’ll find everything from Monstera and Philodendron to Begonia and other collector plants, Anthuriums have become my greatest fascination. Their diversity, unpredictability, and sculptural beauty continue to inspire me as both a collector and creator.

I don’t claim to be the world’s leading expert. What makes Plant Gallery special is that every plant offered here comes directly from my personal collection and growing spaces in Harlem. These are plants I’ve selected, grown alongside, admired, and in many cases hunted down from collectors around the world.

Plant Gallery isn’t simply about owning rare plants.

It’s about bringing home a living piece of a collection. A piece of a story. A piece of Harlem.

Thank you for being part of the journey. I’m excited to see how this gallery continues to grow—and how the plants you bring home grow with you.

Curated in Harlem. Shared with the world.
