The Specimen

A second beginning, wrapped in silver and rose.

I brought this Begonia ‘Lamoon’ into my collection approximately seven months before listing it. As it grew tall and upright, I pruned it and attempted several cuttings. Only one survived.

This is that surviving propagation.

Now growing anew, the specimen presents a striking collection of softly metallic pink leaves, delicately sculpted margins, and contrasting dark veins.

The Foliage

A luminous combination of silver, dusty rose, and burgundy gives ‘Lamoon’ its distinctive appearance.

Its asymmetrical, deeply lobed leaves carry darker branching veins across a shimmering surface. Rich reddish stems and vivid undersides add another layer of contrast.

New foliage may emerge with pronounced pink coloration before transitioning as it matures. Color intensity varies naturally with growing conditions.

PG COLLECTOR · EXACT PLANT

You will receive the individual plant photographed, presented in its current nursery container.

This specimen represents the surviving propagation from my original mother plant. Its compact form reflects a new stage of growth rather than the height of the original plant.

Growing Notes

  • Light: Bright, indirect light. Some gentle filtered light may support colorful foliage, but protect from intense direct sun.

  • Water: Maintain lightly moist, well-draining growing media. Avoid prolonged saturation or letting the entire root system become severely dry.

  • Humidity: Moderate to high humidity with consistent airflow is beneficial.

  • Temperature: Warm, stable indoor temperatures are preferable. Avoid cold drafts and rapid environmental changes.

  • Growth habit: An upright, cane-type Begonia that may develop longer stems over time. Pruning can encourage branching, though propagation success is not guaranteed.

  • Handling: Its decorative leaves can be delicate. Avoid unnecessary disturbance, prolonged wet foliage, and rough handling during relocation.

Provenance

I acquired the original plant approximately seven months before this listing.

When the original plant grew tall and stalky, I pruned it for propagation. Of the cuttings I attempted, only this specimen survived.

I have since grown it on as a new plant, preserving a direct connection to the original.

The cultivar is reported in horticultural sources as Begonia aconitifolia × Begonia U062. The original nursery source and precise breeding provenance of this individual are undocumented.
