The Foliage
Monstera esqueleto is often confused with Monstera adansonii, but mature plants reveal why they’re so highly sought after. The elongated leaves and expansive fenestrations create an almost lace-like appearance, transforming each new leaf into a living sculpture. As the plant climbs and matures, its architectural form becomes even more dramatic.
With elongated foliage and extraordinary natural perforations, Monstera esqueleto is one of the most striking species in cultivation. As each leaf matures, expansive fenestrations create a sculptural silhouette unlike almost any other climbing aroid, earning the plant its fitting name, esqueleto—Spanish for “skeleton.”
Given proper support, this species rewards patience with increasingly larger leaves and even more dramatic fenestration, becoming a true statement piece in any collection.
