It earns the name. Philodendron elegans carries glossy, deeply divided foliage with the airy silhouette of palm fronds, then climbs into a taller, more architectural plant when given something to hold.

Each available plant was propagated from a cutting taken from Plant Gallery’s mother plant, one of the personal favorites in our Philodendron collection. Its mature potential is all height, movement, and increasingly dramatic foliage.

GOOD TO KNOW

Philodendron elegans is a true climber. Without support it may lean or extend outward; with a pole or plank, it can grow taller and present its palm-like foliage more dramatically.

The deeply divided leaf shape becomes increasingly expressive as the plant matures. Each propagation will develop at its own pace and is not guaranteed to match the mother plant’s current height, leaf count, or degree of division.

This species is one of Plant Gallery’s personal Philodendron favorites, selected for the contrast between its delicate-looking foliage and its strong vertical potential.

Philodendrons may respond to shipping or environmental change by marking or retiring an older leaf. Allow the plant to acclimate before repotting or making major changes to its growing conditions.

This plant contains calcium oxalate crystals and is toxic if chewed or ingested. Keep it away from pets and small children.
