The Specimen
An architectural tropical aroid with unmistakable character, Philodendron mayoi is celebrated for its deeply divided foliage and expressive growth habit.
I propagated these two exact specimens from a large, established mother plant in my Plant Gallery collection. Each represents a different stage of development, carrying the same botanical lineage while expressing its own individual form.
The Foliage
Its glossy green leaves gradually develop prominent lobes and an increasingly sculptural silhouette. Young foliage may appear comparatively simple before becoming more deeply divided with maturity.
The result is a plant that becomes visually more interesting as it grows.
