Dark before it gets dramatic. This grower’s-choice release of Philodendron billietiae × atabapoense ‘Black Billie’ brings together the elongated form associated with billietiae and the rich, dark character associated with atabapoense. Expect charcoal-green foliage, softly rippled margins, pale central veins, and warm bronze-to-burgundy color through the petioles and fresh growth.

Each plant was propagated from a cutting taken from Plant Gallery’s mother plant and grown on as an individual juvenile.

Three plants are available in the current release. The photographs show examples from this batch; your order will contain one plant selected by Plant Gallery and may not be the exact specimen pictured.

The current batch ranges from a one-leaf plant with an active growth point to fuller multi-leaf juveniles. Leaf count, width, length, color, petiole tone, growth stage, and minor cosmetic condition will vary. Requests for a particular plant or phenotype cannot be guaranteed.

This batch is the confirmed hybrid Philodendron billietiae × atabapoense, commonly recognized in collector circles by the trade name “Black Billie.”

GOOD TO KNOW

Juvenile Philodendrons can react to shipping or environmental changes by marking or retiring an older leaf. Give the plant time to settle before repotting or making major changes to its growing conditions.

Although all three plants share the same mother-plant source, each cutting can develop at its own pace and show natural variation in leaf count, shape, color, and growth stage.

This plant contains calcium oxalate crystals and is toxic if chewed or ingested. Keep it away from pets and small children.

Each plant is carefully selected, secured, and presented through Plant Gallery’s elevated collector packaging experience.
